Robotic Surgery

is keyhole surgery done by the surgeon using the Da Vinci RobotTM machine. This is instead of standard keyhole (laparoscopic) or open surgery.

A wrist is added at the end of the Robot instruments which reproduce the hand movements of the surgeon in the abdomen. The surgeon gets a 3D image and significant magnification.

The Robot machine assists the surgeon to carry out precise and accurate surgery. It allows what is essentially micro-surgery in inaccessible parts of the body.

The surgeon sits at the console in the corner of the operating theatre. The Da Vinci arms are over the operating table. The Robotic instruments are introduced through small keyholes in the abdomen.
